Canine Cottage offers dog day care in a home atmosphere with a small staff to dog ratio. The care your dog receives while at Canine Cottage will be personalized, never generalized, just as if he/she were home with your family. Your dog will be grouped with other dogs of similar temperament, will have the chance to join the general pack and will play in the woods when the weather is comfortable. There are large group sized pens to provide plenty of room to run, jump and dig in the dirt. When the weather is not so comfortable, there are several different "dog recreation rooms" created in our house for dog comfort and enjoyment. At Canine Cottage dogs will have a fulfilling emotional experience in a safe environment.
Canine Cottage is not a training facility however, your dog will learn certain commands, such as "sit", "off" (off of counters, friends and people), "back" (for making space at doors and gates), "break" (for recall and refocusing), "no bark" (for times to be quiet) and the like. Attendees learn to share toys, bones, beds and buffalo horns through careful supervision and patience.

We have a low staff to dog ratio of 1-10. Your dog is under constant supervision with someone present at all times.
Yes. We have four large, wooded fenced in areas with roofed "cottages" where the dogs will spend time as long as the weather is comfortable. We stay outside often and for longer periods of time. Depending on your dog's fur coat, they may need a man-made coat as well. It is best to get a water-resistant coat that will not get soggy in the snow. Smooth on the inside means your dog won't get itchy from the coat either.
Yes, we have two dog "recreation" rooms that are part of our home. These are equipped with dog beds, toys, balls, water buffalo horns, bones, safety gates and benches to get up on to look out the windows.
Your dog's care is personalized, to keep your pup safe and happy. Your dog will be grouped with other dogs of similar temperament and play styles, whether inside or out, for the couch-potato-dog, to the running -and-jumping dog. This is a home style daycare, so your furry family member will have another place to call home during the day when you can't be together.
Crates are available for dogs that prefer a den and are used for feeding dogs, but as a general rule, no, they will not be used. If your pet is crated for any reason, you would be notified. Doggy suites are available for boarding during the night and are located in our bedroom.
Yes. We require proof of Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella (kennel cough). Your dog must not have fleas.

We may be able to accommodate this situation on occasion.
Let us know as soon as possible. Things happen but if it happens often without communication, you will be charged $5 for every 10 minutes you are late or with prior arrangements extra hours of care can be arranged.
All major Debit and Credit Cards are accepted, as well as cash or check. Payment is due when you pick up your furry friend. If your dog attends more than one day in a week, payment is due at the end of the week.
We reserve the right to refuse any dog for any reason.
Trish says:
"Since I was a little girl, I have wanted to care for animals. Growing up with a beagle (Digger) who was as loving and devoted as any dog, I knew his love for his family was pure and unconditional. His joy knew no limits and even as a child I found happiness in his joy.
I volunteered at the Humane Society and I would have been so happy if I could have brought all the animals home. I worked at the greyhound track to continue my dog loving pursuit and I furthered my working education of dogs, their needs and behaviors. I got my own dogs and wanting to do my best by all my pets I read and learned. In my adult life we have never had less
All this time, I have had experiences with many aspects of pet care for my own animals and those of others (family, friends & co-workers) including assistance with trimming nails, wound care, abscess flushing, and removing stitches. Working with animals has always been my passion, even when I have had to pick up the unpleasant results of an animal not feeling well.
I’ve fallen for pretty much every dog I’ve ever met and now life's choices, with all its twists and turns, have finally allowed me the opportunity again to spend my time with animals, but it really isn't work...It’s furry happiness" and I should have done this 20 years ago.
Tabbi says:
"I've never known a time in my life before dogs. Some of my earliest memories are of dogs, especially my first as a child, a golden retriever I grew up with. We called him Coby, but on his pedigree it said "TK's Golden Paw Prints" and I took that very seriously as a child. He had my name, that meant I had to be partly responsible for him. That attitude has followed me ever since. It's only natural to engage with and make relationships with all the dogs I meet.
My first professional job working with dogs was in a private kennel for retired show dogs. I learned new skills, how to give a blowout, to Dremel their nails. The dogs were well kept and happy, but they lived their lives going from cage to cage by themselves. After two years there I moved on, looking forward to meeting more kinds of dogs! I stayed for a brief time after that at another daycare that kept their dogs in cages most of the time, and quickly found something more suited to my preferred care style.
I spent two years at Four Paws Inn getting to know different dogs and the way dogs are together away from home. It was there I also learned a deep appreciation for the impact a dog's breed can have on its temperament. I felt appreciated and valued there, but when Mom told me she was opening her own daycare, I knew it was only a matter of time before we were working together. I'm so proud of her for opening and running Canine Cottage on her own and now I'm so pleased and excited to be able to work with her here. Now I feel we can provide the care I've always wanted to give; a truly personal and fun experience for your dogs"
